History of the Unified Terran Alliance

The year 2055 marked a momentous occasion for Earth in the development of the star drive, an engine that allowed the use of an adequately sized gravity well to slingshot into subspace allowing faster than light travel to be possible. Now that FTL was possible the Terran's quickly started to colonize the galaxy, but without a strong government they all broke into splinter colonies, and war ensued.
In 2099 the Terran's encountered a reptilian race that started systematically destroying Terran colonies, the splinter colonies banded together and formed the Unified Terran Alliance and successfully fought the reptiles to a stand still.
2163 Marked a short era of peace for the Terran's ending in 2189 when a peaceful protest turned violent and ended with the shooting of a UTA marine, which quickly esculated into what is now called the Massacre of Manasses III, it ended with martial law being announced, and open rebellion ensued.
